Answers to the most common questions about concrete driveways, patios, pricing, and our process across Adelaide & SA.
Pricing
Concrete driveways in Adelaide cost $75–$95/m² for plain grey broom finish, $95–$120/m² for coloured oxide, and $140–$200/m² for exposed aggregate — all prices installed. A standard double driveway (40–50 m²) runs approximately $3,000–$10,000 depending on finish and soil conditions. We provide free on-site quotes with fully itemised pricing within 48 hours.
Licensing & Trust
No. Every job is completed by our own trained crew under Javed’s direct supervision. We do not subcontract our pours. This means the same standard of work and accountability on every project — the crew quoting you is the crew doing the job.
Process & Timeline
Autumn (March–May) and spring (September–November) are ideal — mild temperatures, lower UV, and manageable evaporation rates. Winter works well in Adelaide. Summer is manageable with the right protocols: early morning pours (before 8am), mist systems, shade structures, and fast-set admixtures on extreme heat days. We do not pour on days above 37°C unless protected conditions can be confirmed.
Finishes & Finishes
Coloured oxide concrete is integral — the pigment runs through the entire mix, not just the surface — so it does not peel or chip. With a UV-stable solvent acrylic sealer applied at installation and resealing every 5–7 years, coloured concrete driveways retain their colour for 25–40 years in Adelaide conditions.
Adelaide Soil & Tech
Standard residential driveways and slabs use SL72 mesh (7.1 mm bar, 200 mm centres). On Class H1 and H2 reactive clay sites across Adelaide’s northern and southern suburbs, we upgrade to SL82 mesh (8.9 mm bar, 200 mm centres) for better crack resistance. All mesh is lapped a minimum of 225 mm at joins and supported off the moisture barrier to sit in the bottom third of the slab.
Permits & Council
We service all Adelaide metropolitan suburbs — from Gawler and Virginia in the north to Morphett Vale and Christies Beach in the south, and from the Hills Fringe in the east to Semaphore and Henley Beach in the west. Key areas include Salisbury, Elizabeth, Campbelltown, Norwood, Unley, Mitcham, Blackwood, Glenelg, Port Adelaide, and Modbury. See our full suburb coverage map at /areas-we-serve.
Suburbs & Service Area
Yes — alongside residential work, we handle commercial concrete including car parks, retail slab extensions, warehouse floors, loading dock concrete, and industrial hardstands. Contact us for a commercial site assessment and quote.
Quotes & Bookings
Typically 2–4 weeks in spring and autumn (peak season). Winter bookings are often available within 1–2 weeks. Summer can extend to 4–6 weeks due to high demand. We recommend contacting us as early as possible to secure your preferred dates, especially for larger projects involving engineering certification.
Maintenance & After-care
The main causes of concrete cracking in Adelaide are: (1) reactive clay soil movement — soil expands when wet and contracts in drought, stressing the slab; (2) insufficient control joints — joints should be cut every 2.5–3 m to manage shrinkage cracking; (3) thin or under-reinforced concrete; (4) poorly compacted roadbase — causes slab to sink unevenly; (5) pouring in extreme summer heat without curing management. Correctly specified and installed concrete does not crack structurally.
